Updated: Aug 2, 2023

Welcome to the Queen City of the South! Cebu, an island jewel of the Philippines, seamlessly blends natural, historical, and cultural splendors. My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Cebu and it is one of our favorite places to visit in the Philippines. Let's dive into an exciting three-day itinerary designed to help you uncover the best of what Cebu has to offer.

Basilica del Santo Nino Church

Day 1: Delve into Cebu City's Vibrant History and Culture

Embark on your Cebu itinerary in Cebu City, the oldest city in the Philippines. Begin with the iconic Basilica del Santo Niño, housing the country's oldest religious relic - the Santo Niño de Cebu. The Basilica's awe-inspiring architecture mirrors Spanish influences on the region.

A stone's throw away from the Basilica is the Magellan's Cross, enshrined in a chapel next to the Basilica. This historic cross, planted by Ferdinand Magellan in 1521, symbolizes the introduction of Christianity to the Philippines.

Proceed to Fort San Pedro, the country's oldest triangular fortress. This fort provides a peek into the Philippines' colonial past, making it a must-visit.

After soaking in history, treat your taste buds to a delicious lunch at Larsian, a food market famed for its grilled specialties and seafood. Be sure to try Sinugba, a local favorite dish of marinated grilled pork.

In the afternoon, visit the enchanting Temple of Leah, also known as Cebu's Taj Mahal. This majestic edifice, inspired by Greco-Roman architecture, offers excellent photography opportunities.

End your day with a visit to the vibrant Taboan Public Market. Pick up some local souvenirs like dried mangoes and danggit (sun-dried rabbitfish), perfect tokens to remember your trip.

Day 2: Embrace the Natural Wonders of Oslob

Day two of your itinerary takes you southwards to the picturesque coastal town of Oslob. Here, kickstart your day with an unforgettable experience - swimming with whale sharks, the gentle giants of the sea. See our video of our trip on my YouTube channel.

After this thrilling encounter, it's time to visit Cebu's remarkable waterfalls. First on the list is Tumalog Falls, not too far from Oslob. A short motorcycle ride from the local town center will lead you to this natural wonder. The cascading water against the mossy cliff creates a mesmerizing curtain-like effect, perfect for a refreshing dip or simply marveling at nature's beauty.

Kawasan Falls Philippines

Next, continue your journey to Aguinid Falls in Samboan. The adventure to reach the falls is just as exciting as the destination. You'll traverse through the river, climb limestone paths, and pass smaller cascades before reaching the stunning main waterfall. It's a slightly challenging trek, but the sight of the waterfall and the opportunity for a refreshing swim makes it well worth it. Another good option on the way back to Cebu City from Samoan is Kawasan Falls

Island Hopping Cebu Philippines

Day 3: Embark on an Island-Hopping Extravaganza

Your third day of your itinerary in Cebu is reserved for exploring the spectacular islands surrounding the province. See our Island Hopping Video on YouTube. Start your day at Nalusuan Island, renowned for its marine sanctuary. This is an excellent spot for snorkeling with a wide variety of fish and beautiful corals.

Next, sail to Hilutungan Island. This island is another great snorkeling and diving site, with protected reefs brimming with colorful tropical fish.

Conclude your island hopping with a visit to Caohagan Island. Known for its crystal-clear waters and pristine white sands, this island is the perfect place to unwind, swim, and soak up the sun.

Return to Cebu city as the sun sets, reflecting on the unforgettable memories etched into your island adventure.

From its rich historical landmarks to its stunning islands and majestic waterfalls, Cebu truly is a tropical paradise that guarantees an enriching, adventurous experience you won't forget. Safe travels, and as they say in Cebu, "Maayong Pag-abot" - welcome!
